How many hockey sticks are produced each year?

Just over 3 million composite clubs are manufactured each year and over 2 million of these clubs are sold each year in North America alone. If we look around the world, there are close to 4 million lollipops that are manufactured and about 80% are discarded annually.

It is quite difficult to grasp how many clubs are involved, but at the same time it is not so strange that so many clubs are used when each player in the SHL uses about 40 clubs per season.

Each player in the Hockeyallsvenskan goes through about 15-25 clubs per season.

Then there are an incredible number of other leagues and teams, both in Sweden and the rest of Europe.

How many lollipops break and get thrown in the bin?

Since close to 4 million lollipops are produced each year, almost as many are thrown away. In North America, it has been reported that over 70% of all lollipops break and are thrown away.

Then you can only guess that the figures are roughly the same for the rest of the world as well. These are quite large numbers we are talking about.

What happens to a broken hockey stick when it is thrown away?

A hockey stick is made of composite material. Composite material consists of carbon fiber, glass fiber and aramid. The hockey stick consists mostly of carbon fiber.

Not all composite materials are biodegradable, but they can be reused.

When a broken hockey stick is thrown in the bin, it goes to the landfill and is only piled up as it cannot be broken down.

Hopefully in the future we will be able to break down composite materials. But until then, it's up to us to help the environment.

What can you do about it yourself? Well, you can repair and reuse your broken mallet so that it lasts for a good while longer.

What can be done to reduce composite waste and instead try to help the environment?

As we mentioned earlier, you can repair your broken club or reuse it yourself for something else. There are a lot of things you can make from a broken hockey stick! You can also buy used clubs.

If you are skeptical that a repaired club will last, you can at least use it as a practice club and use your other clubs for matches.

Those of you who have tested our prepared clubs know that they can be used just as well for training as for matches.

Think one step further. Consider the environment.
